Introducing the TwiddleMuff
Rather than just handing the TwiddleMuff to the recipient, think about the approach to which they would most be receptive. Perhaps the
gentleman who likes to fix things could be handed it for ‘evaluation’. The woman who is a nurturer might appreciate ‘looking after it for a
while’. Did he or she like animals or have fears of cats or dogs? As in all things, be thoughtful about the introduction.
Stop the ‘Pick Up’ Game
We know that some individuals regularly toss what they are given onto the floor and then ask for help in picking it up again. One solution
is to slide the individuals own belt (for skirts or pants) through the muff and tie or fasten it loosely behind them, at their waist. This keeps
the TwiddleMuff where they can use it and not on the floor!
Keep it Fresh!
Move the gadgets around on the TwiddleMuff; for example, put the beads inside and the ball on the outside. If there is a gadget that they
chew, such as the marble bag, don’t risk an accident. Unbutton the gadget that might present a problem without compromising the
quality or usefulness of the TwiddleMuff. Also, once in a while, unbutton the gadgets and put the TwiddleMuff through the washer and
dryer to keep it clean.
Pocket Surprise!
The pocket can hold a tissue, a photo of the family, or perhaps a sweet smelling sachet. Customize the contents to the individual and
keep it fun and surprising.
Make it Personal
We know that many of the TwiddleMuffs will go to individuals living in institutional care. Everything personal needs to be well marked
with their name, as per the instructions of the staff. If you want to send directly to the home, we would be glad to put the recipient's name
on the pocket using indelible marker. When you order put this request in the ‘comments’ section with the correct spelling. There will be
no refunds on customized orders.
